How did this collaboration between Tropique and JWC come about?
JWC is always supportive of the F&B scene in JB and is constantly looking for new ways to make it more exciting for the people here. Hence, when the opportunity arose to pair good food with good drinks, there was no hesitation that JWC had to be a part of it.
What are your thoughts on the food and beverage industry in Johor Bahru?
I believe the F&B scene in JB is set for the world stage in the coming future. With the rapid development of the Iskandar Economic Region, we are seeing food culture from all over the world meet in this once sleepy royal town!
Tell us a bit about bartender extraordinaire, Justin Tay.
Justin Tay is the head mixologist of JWC’s range of cocktail bars, having 5 years of bartender experience under his belt. He has also achieved the standard of WSET Level 2 on Spirits in the year 2018. He is responsible for the concoction of the wide range of cocktails in all our bars.
What unique flavours and ingredients can we expect in the cocktails?
In conjunction with the tropical, theme, we are using plenty of fresh fruits and local ingredients to showcase the vibrant Malaysian food culture and guests can look forward to experiencing exotic flair in our cocktails. From mangos and pineapples to jackfruit and mangosteen, we are bent on teasing your palate. We'll also be playing with a very special ingredient in one of the cocktails, Gula Melaka to add that tinge of sweetness.
For each dish prepared by Tropique, a cocktail is tailored to marry the taste of the food with the flavour of the cocktail to fully compliment the dining experience.
